Butchers Union Fundraiser

It may have been a frosty night, but warmed many hearts were warmed for a great cause!

On Friday, December 12, 2014, the Butchers Union Group NPO teamed up with our show to put on a fundraising event like no other!  Special “all you can drink” wristbands and raffles tickets were sold throughout the evening to help raise money, during our two special holiday themed burlesque sets.

The Butchers Union Group NPO endeavors to support community health and education initiatives in the Chicago-land area through direct volunteer service, special event fundraising, and community outreach activities, with the goal of encouraging active and conscientious lives. This year, the goal was to raise money to support their Microgrant Program to benefit youth hockey players. Recipients of this special grant receive an award to offset the cost of equipment, ice time, and instruction.

Through the partnership with Original Tease and our home venue, the Lincoln Tap Room, the Butchers Union was able to raise over $1,000 for the Microgrant Program. That will certainly help buy a lot of ice skates for the kids!

The evening was kicked off by our lovely hostess, Miss Dixie Devereaux, who wore a fabulous light up Christmas tree gown. Throughout the night she entertained the bar by singing some holiday favorites. Donna Touch, Vivi Valens, Bella Ciao, Helena Handbasket, and Ray Ray Sunshine also performed dazzling burlesque solos with a holiday twist.

As a very special treat, we were joined by two of our favorite guest performers! All the way from Indianapolis, powerhouse (and hockey enthusiast!) Patsy Blue Ribbon took to the stage as a glamorous winter polar bear. And alongside our very own Stella Cheeks was guest Right This Way Robbie; the two performed a spooky fun holiday tribute to the Nightmare Before Christmas!

To help aid with the fundraiser, our adorable stage kitten, Kali Candykiss, worked the Butchers Union merchandise table. T-shirts, hats, and drink koozies were sold, as well as raffle tickets for a chance to win the items for sale. But the big excitement came during the “Split the Pot” 50/50 raffle drawing. Up for grabs was $80! When his ticket number was called, our very lucky winner turned around and donated his new cash right back to the charity! That’s the holiday spirit of giving!

Overall, the evening was a huge success and we look forward to partnering with the Butchers Union again! Learn more about this incredible organization on their website at www.butchersunion.org.
