A mighty congratulations to two fabulous Chicago performers!
Placing first in their categories, Ray Ray Sunshine won Best of Classic and Hot Tawdry won Best of Nerdlesque!
Presented by Dannie Diesel and hosted at the Adler Theater in Davenport, the 2nd Annual Iowa Burlesque Festival was a smashing good time! It was hard to believe the amount of talent presented in just two short days.
Some of our favorite performances of the Friday night show included the stunning Feist Club (winning for best group), Right This Way Robbie’s transformation from frog to prince, Anja Keister with some Cthulhu humor and Renee Holiday’s high notes.
The headliner lineup on Saturday was… well… top-notch. Nothing but the hits! It doesn’t get any better than LouLou D’vil’s wild moves, gorgeous costuming and flawless look. But, how many runs does it take to perfect a somersault pant removal? Michelle L’amour and Russel Bruner made it look as if it took no effort at all! Oh, but the aerial arts too! Aloft Circus Arts opened the show with a beautiful trio of aerial dancers, but it was Poppy Daze that really took the audience’s breath away. It would be worth it to travel a million miles just to watch that mermaid again.
Overall it was a fabulous trip for our teasers Ray Ray Sunshine, Hot Tawdry, Stella Cheeks and Donna Touch. We really represented Chicago well, had a wonderful time and heck… it’s always fun to ride home with some stellar, vintage pickers inspired trophies.
